Check out this cool setup using a simple email workflow which will keep you and your team notified 24/7 of any new Zendesk Incidents automatically. This will save you from asking a fellow Zendesk Agent if somethings wrong or searching the web to check if there's something wrong with Zendesk!
Slack:
Part 1: Creating a new Slack Channel
- Create a new Slack channel - We recommend naming it "status_zendesk"
Part 2: Creating a new Slack Channel Email Address
- From your desktop, open the channel that you’d like to send emails to.
- Note: This is a paid feature and requires a Slack Subscription
- Click on the channel name in the conversation header.
- Click on the Integrations tab.
- Select Send emails to this [channel].
- Click on Get email address. - A new custom email address will appear for you to copy and use at your discretion. Save a copy of this email address as we will use it in the part 2 of the setup below.
Part 3: Connecting your Slack Channel to the Zendesk Status page
- Navigate to the Zendesk Status page - status.zendesk.com
- Enter your Zendesk subdomain and click Get Status.
- Click the Subscribe button and enter the new Slack email address we generated in part 2.
- Click Request Setup Link. - This will send an email to the Slack channel for you to click the verification link inside.
- Click the verification link within the newly received email, inside your new slack channel to complete the setup.
Microsoft Teams:
Part 1: Creating a new Slack Channel
- Create a new MS Teams channel - We recommend naming it "status_zendesk"
Part 2: Creating a new MS Teams Channel Email Address
- Go to the channel name and click More options > Get email address.
- Note: This feature needs to be turned on by your IT admin. Also, sending email to a channel isn't available if you're using Teams as part of an Office 365 Government plan.
Part 3: Connecting your MS Teams Channel to the Zendesk Status page
- Navigate to the Zendesk Status page - status.zendesk.com
- Enter your Zendesk subdomain and click Get Status.
- Click the Subscribe button and enter the new Slack email address we generated in part 2.
